Breakdown on the Players Championship

Rickie Fowler birdied the first sudden-death playoff hole and defeated Rory McIlroy and D. A. Points to win the Wells Fargo Championship and earn his first professional win on American soil.

His previous lone professional win had come at the Kolon Korea Open last October. He won by six strokes and the runner-up was coincidentally Rory McIlroy.

This was a huge win and could be a breakthrough for Rickie Fowler and his career on the PGA Tour.

Local Golf in NH

I have decided to take a look at local golf options around here at PSU. With the Players Championship coming up next weekend I thought this would be a good idea to cover some local golf for a week. There are a bunch of courses around the White Mountain region. Owls Nest Golf Club, Canterbury Woods, and White Mountain Country Club are the three that I play the most. White Mountain Country Club, is located on about 5 miles down the road from our campus here at PSU... They offer great rates for a pretty decent course.Owls Nest Golf Club, which resides in Campton NH, only 2 exits up from school is a short drive for a great course and a great deal. They are currently offering 18 holes with a cart for 40 $ and time until the end of May. The course is in great shape so if you have a chance to get out there I highly suggest doing so. Canterbury Woods Country Club is one of my personal favorites here in NH. This course is off exit 17 in Canterbury NH and offers great deals for a immaculate golf course. If you have had the chance to get out there this season I suggest you tee it up at one of these three locations.

Hit em straight!

The next big PGA tour event is the PLAYERS Championship, which is held at TPC Sawgrass, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Many of the pros will be putting in extra time and effort to try and get ready for this immaculate golf course. Known for its deadly greens and great course layout the pros will tee it up Thursday May, 10 to play for a chance to take have over a million dollar purse. Players will look to fine tune there game during the next week and a half, as well as rest nagging injuries that have caused some players to struggle so far this season.

Exploding finish propels Watson past Oosthuizen in playoff at 2012 Masters

Bubba Watson, dressed in all white on Easter Sunday had an unbelievable round of golf filled with stress, mayhem, and joy to defeat Louis Oosthuizen on the second playoff hole of the 76th Masters. Watson was able to convert a two put from about 13 feet for a par after a miracle shot bending a ball from deep in the woods to landing on the putting surface. Oosthuizen missed the green on his second shot and faltered converting his par put giving Watson a chance to two put for the win at Augusta. Bubba Watson won his first Major championship as a PGA professional and will forever remember this remarkable Sunday where he won arguable the most prestigious golf tournament in the world.

Masters Weekend at "Augusta National"

As the Masters fast approach us, you cant help but think that Tiger really wants this one. Woods who is going for his 5th green jacket and Masters Championship, will face tough competition from players like Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy who had a terrible day 4 blow up last year to give the Masters away, it will be interesting to see if he can battle through the haunting memories of last years dissapointment. This is huge and the thought has been looming over the head of the struggling woods for quite some time now. Things back on track and his game looking good he will make a huge push to be in contention on sunday and you better beilieve he is going to bring it for that 5th "Green Jacket"

Woods Wins "Arnold Palmer Invitational by 5 shots"

Tiger Woods wound up winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational by five shots, the 16th time on the PGA Tour that he has won by at least that many shots. this was Tiger's first win on the PGA tour in 2 1/2 years, and there is alot of talk that tiger is back. His game is at an all time high and he is feeling confident about this swing, which could be dangerous for the rest of the feild in the up and coming and long awaited Masters Weekend. Is this the turing point where Tiger never looks back and can regain his dominance of his professional career? many are still critics and say it will never happen but I think he is back!

Transitions Championship

The next stop on the tour this weekend is sunny Clear Water, Florida where Gary Woodland looks to defend his title at the Transitions Championship. This is one of the more traditional layouts on tour and features beautiful hole layouts. It is a par 71 course where any ones round can go south in the last three holes, which are known around the golf world as the "Snake Pit". The pros have said this is one of there favorite golf courses on the tour because if you can hit the ball well for 4 days it will reward you nicely being on the shorter side of length. Tiger and others look to push the envelope and see if they can post 4 solid days of Golf. I am excited to see who wins and am predicting a close finish on Sunday!

Tiger woods Stuggles?

Tiger needs to step up his game if he wants to come away with anything other than a disappointment. Woods continues to struggle with professional career, although has made a strong push early thus far. Right now his mediocre performance is just not going to cut it, if he wants to save his career he needs to do something drastic and make strides forward. He shows moments of the old woods and then seems to falter at costly times. Will Woods ever be able to fully make a “Come Back”? I will follow tiger for the next few weeks to see what kind of improvements he is making to gain back a dream of being number 1 again.

Introduction to the "Greatest Game Ever Played"

Francis Ouimet was born in 1893 to a working class family in Massachusetts. He grew up Fascinated by golf, but had all odds against him. Many years ago golf was considered a pastime of wealth and privilege and mainly dominated by the British and Scottish Players. Francis grew up less than a stones throw away from Brookline, MA Country Club where he could only be involved in the game as becoming a caddy. He was just a little guy and had to work hard to carry the bags of professional players, which at the time were actually bigger than he was. Whenever he could get his hands on a club and practice his swing he would do so. With the objections of his father in 1913 Francis had the opportunity of a life time, and was the first amateur to play in the U.S. Open which was held a Brookline Country Club. Over the next four days young Ouimet battled his way to the top of the leader board and Won the U.S. Open, creating history and changing the game of golf still to this day. A story about young Ouimet is was Golf is the Greatest Game ever played. Has golf changed today? I encourage everyone out there to watch this movie called “The Greatest Game Every Played” and promise that this will change your view on the game of Golf.
